Former Chairperson, Air Namibia
Escher Luanda is the former chairperson of the now-liquidated Air Namibia, having resigned on 3 February 2021, just before the Government filed for voluntary liquidation. He is one of Namibia’s leading authority in corporate governance, a non-practising attorney and certified ethics officer. He is a C-suite executive in charge of governance and ethics in the retirement fund sector. He is the former Deputy Chief at the Namibian Law Commission were he provided leadership to research teams in reforming obsolete Namibian laws.
He has amassed vast board experience by advising, training, consulting boards in the private, public and non-profit sectors. Escher serves on the governing bodies of various entities: the Committee for Responsible Investing in South Africa (CRISA), the National Youth Service, Namforce Insurance, Namibia Institute of Corporate Governance (chairperson) and Business Ethics Network Africa and is former chairperson of Air Namibia. He is a Fellow of the Mauritius Institute of Directors.
