Managing Director, Lufthansa Group for Spain and Portugal
Carsten Hoffmann has been the Managing Director of the Lufthansa Group for Spain and Portugal since March 2015.
Based in Madrid, he is responsible for the sales activities of Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines for one of the most important business regions of the Lufthansa Group. Born in 1975 in Göttingen, Hoffmann began his career at Lufthansa in April 2003, as a member of the international program for graduates ProTeam in Frankfurt. Subsequently, he joined the sales team of the organization, focusing on the coordination of flight planning and the optimization of routes between sales addresses and routes.
In 2008, he became part of the Marketing team as Senior Manager in charge of strategy development, B2B budget management, and coordination of marketing activities to support sales. Two years later he was appointed Head of Marketing and Sales in Frankfurt. During this period, he was responsible for budget management and focused on the design of sales strategies, new channels and market trends.
In 2011 he was appointed Director of Sales and Process Optimization in Frankfurt, at which time he concentrated on the overall sales performance in all areas and channels; trying with this to guarantee the maximum generation of income for the company, as well as the development of tools that favored the sales processes.
Before starting at Lufthansa, Carsten Hoffmann conducted a training program at Norddeutsche Landesbank, and in 1997 he studied a Master's in Business Studies, specializing in marketing and international, at the National University of Ireland in Galway and at the University of Münster (Germany) . Carsten Hoffmann is married and has two children. Although his mother tongue is German he speaks fluent English, and has advanced knowledge of Spanish.
